Got given some timber the other day and it's turning out to be a bit of a puzzle. The guy who donated it to me said it was mahogany, but as soon as I saw it I knew that was not the case. The boards are well weathered on the outside having spent 10 years plus out in the elements, dark brown on the outside, but when I cut one of the boards, (which by the way are 1”x5” and about nine feet long) the timber is a lovely bright pink, tight grained and iron hard. The only clue I have to their origin is that they may have been bought years ago to repair a jetty……….I thought it might have been greenheart, but I have never seen that wood in this colour……….by the way the timber is very very heavy!

Please note, although no boardcode and smiley buttons are shown, they are still useable
