If this post uploads twice I apologise.

This is my first full guitar restoration.

Have just finished the base coat and let dry for 24 hours. On inspection there are tiny holes showing through the primer which are aprroximately 1 mm wide but look like they could be deeper than the sealer coat.

I grain filled the body and spray coated sanding sealer which I flattened with 400 grit. The holes didn't appear to be there after the sealer stage.

The materials I'm using are spray cans bought from tonetech to avoid reactions between brands.

If anyone has any ideas what could have caused these holes and how best to proceed I'd be really grateful!

I Know it may seem strange replying to myself, but I have worked out what the problem is.

Poor preparation!

The body is mahogany not alder as I thought, and didn't wood fill the tiny pores well enough!

Will start again!!

I came across this a while ago and you'd obviously solved this yourself. I'm glad you posted your own answer as I'm sure they'll be others experiencing the same problem and now they can read an answer here on the forum.

Did it turn out OK in the end?
