TOPIC: Poly finish over acrlyic paint
#836
Poly finish over acrlyic paint 2 Years, 6 Months ago
I've managed to persuade a friend to do some custom artwork on one of my strats.

She's going to use acrylic paints for the design.

The question I have is can I get the guitar clearcoated using a poly finish over acrylics?

I'm sure nitro would kill the acrylic artwork

Any advice?

Thanks!

Poly? polyester or polyurethane?

You should have no problem if the Acrylic is water based providing the body is sealed properly.

You should have no problems if using polyurethane providing the the first coats are light dust coats.
