To be honest, Steve, I don't know

I don't have anything to compare it with at the moment. I'm a couple of weeks away from finishing my third guitar, which is the same body shape as the cherry one. That's a Brazilian mahogany back with a bookmatched walnut cap. Maybe I'll be able to compare them once it's finished. But the problem is that the pickups are very different, even though the rest of the hardware is going to be identical.

I chose the cherry because it "felt" right. The chunk of mahogany is certainly being a LOT more trouble to work with. It's quite fibrous and doesn't like being sanded or scraped unless I'm really gentle with it.
