Padauk (Pterocarpus Soyauxii) 

A medium to hard wood, whose heartwood is deep orange red when first cut that will age to a rich red/orange brown over time.  It is moderately course grain texture with straight to interlocking grain patterns. It's acoustic properties fall somewhere between Brazilian and East Indian Rosewood.  Padauk is widely available from Africa; Cameroon, Zaire, Angola, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and Nigeria.
