Fret End Files December 2011
Three new files from Hosco. They are designed for rounding over fret ends. One face of the file has a radiused portion for crowning across the edge of the file. Both adjacent faces have fine cutting teeth to round over the edges right down to the fingerboard. The back edge of the file is smooth. One file has a 1 mm radius profile, one a 2mm radius profile and the other a 3mm radius.

Richlite Fingerboards now in stock. November 2011
Richlite is a synthetic product designed to replace wood. It is made from multiple layers of recycled paper, impregnated with a phenolic resin, and baked under pressure to form a very hard, dimensionally stable sheet product. Recently Martin guitars have started using it as fingerboard material on some of their guitars to replace ebony. Tonetech now stock guitar and bass fingerboards in black Richlite. The boards are flat on both sides and 6mm thick. They can be worked with normal woodworking tools and when slotted they hold fret wire well. You can use woodworking glue to fix them in place. The uniform black appearance is ideal for those wanting to replace jet black ebony. Richlite gives clean inlay routs.

These plastic granules are great for making moulded clamping cauls and also to make copies of inlays to use as a template on a copy router. The plastic melts in hot water or with a heat gun. It is easily moulded and then it sets hard as it cools. The plastic can be re-used over and over.

We've been asked to stock a nitro-cellulose lacquer specifically for brush application. This clear gloss brushing lacquer is ideal for makers who haven't the space to apply aerosol or spray lacquer. You can apply in a well ventialted area without the need to protect against airbourne spray. 500mls will be enough to finish 2 or 3 guitars. Eye and skin protection is required. Fret Slotting Circular Saw Blade. September 2011
150mm Fret slotting circular saw blade made in Sheffield. The blade is made from 1.4mm thick high speed steel with the outer 20mm ground to 0.58mm. The blade has 150 teeth, 5mm rake and zero set. The bore of the blade is 30mm and we have reducing washers available to 20mm and 16mm bore. Ideal for use in a table saw or radial arm saw this will make short work of fret slot cutting.

Truss Rods are Back! January 2011
Our 2 way truss rods have been redesigned and are made locally here in the UK. The flat bar allows us to keep the overall height of the truss rod as low as possible so the truss rod trench doesn't weaken the neck. We've also adopted a unique process to fix the adjustment nut to the rod. In traditional rods this is often the weak point. Our tests show it is virtually impossible to shear the nut from the rod.
We have standard size truss rods to fit 12 and 14 frets to the body acoustics, Electric and Bass guitars. Professional guitar makers who require custom lengths are welcome to enquire.
2 New Adhesive Products January 2011
Black super glue and a superglue activator / primer felt pen.
Black superglue is ideal for spot repairs to ebony fingerboards or for glueing inlays in place. Once the glue sets it can be sanded smooth. An essential product in the busy repair shop.
The Activator / Primer pen gives you great control of the application of the product so it only goes where you want it to. Apply and allow it to evaporate, then apply the super glue.

Multi-angle Vice December 2010
This multi-angle vice is ideal for working on nuts, saddles and other small guitar parts. The ball joint allows for 360 degree rotation and also allows the jaws to swivel from horizontal to vertical.
The table clamp has an opening of 50mm and a rubberised foot prevents damage to the bench top. This foot can be removed to provide a stronger clamping grip on the bench.
The jaws have removable rubber covers. The clamping width of the jaws is 80mm and the jaw opening is a maximum of 50mm.
The orientation of the jaws is adjusted by a single clamping “T” bar mechanism to provide quick repositioning of the work.
Instrument makers will find many uses for this versatile vice.
Fretting Hammer with Nylon Head. December 2010

EMR Shielding Paint August 2010
Electric guitar makers know the value of shielding the controls and pick-ups from EMR (Electro-magnetic Radiation). EMR causes noise, hiss and hums so a good quality shielding paint is essential. We have a carbon based, water borne shielding paint available in 3 sizes, 125mls, 250mls and 500mls. Paint a couple of coats on with a brush and when dry your control and pick-up cavities are shielded.

These portable compressed gas spraying units are ideal for guitar finishing or touch up spraying. The shipping prices are calculated from the weight of the items purchased, plus the weight of the box, and will include the cost of the packaging. This calculation is made when you checkout and before you pay. For orders which fall below the 2 kg weight range there will be Royal Mail First Class Post options. Royal Mail targets 1-3 days delivery time but can sometimes take longer.
